Advancing Korean Medical Research Through Comprehensive Data Resources

In recent years, the landscape of Korean medical research has undergone an extraordinary transformation. Rapid advancements in healthcare infrastructure, robust universal health coverage, and increasing sophistication in national databases have propelled South Korea onto the global stage as a leading source of medical knowledge and innovation. The Journal of Korean Medical Science (JKMS) has been committed to documenting and promoting these developments, providing an essential platform for the dissemination of high-quality, peer- reviewed research. As part of our ongoing effort to support and illuminate the evolving environment of Korean medical research, we are pleased to present this special issue on the theme of "Korean Medical Research Databases." This issue highlights four significant manuscripts, each of which underscores the critical role that comprehensive data resources, innovative methods, and strategic policy directives play in strengthening healthcare and public health in South Korea.
