A Case of Serologically Confirmed Ocular Toxocariasis with Peripheral Granuloma in a 34-year Old Woman

초록

A 34-year-old woman who had been raising a puppy for 2 years complained of a floater in her right eye. Fundus examination of the right eye showed a 1.5-disc-diameter subretinal mass at the temporal peripheral retina with overlying shallow serous retinal detachment extending superoinferiorly. The ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) was positive for *Toxocariasis* IgG, and SDS-PAGE (sodium dodecyl sulphate–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) and Western immunoblotting results showed a typical band pattern consistent with serologic diagnosis of toxocariasis. She received oral prednisolone for 4 weeks, and the floater disappeared. At present, 11 months after diagnosis, the lesion remains unchanged, and visual acuity is still well preserved. This is the second serologically confirmed case of ocular toxocariasis in Korea.
