Successful treatment of Becker’s nevus with combined Q-switched Nd:YAG and fractional CO2 lasers: a case report

초록

Becker’s nevus is a benign cutaneous hamartoma characterized by a hyperpigmented patch with or without hypertrichosis. We report a case of a 19-year-old female presenting with bilateral hyperpigmented lesions on the dorsum of the hands and forearms. Combination therapy using a Q-switched 1,064-nm Nd: YAG laser and a fractional CO2 laser was initiated at 1-month intervals for 10 months. After the 10 sessions, near-complete resolution of hyperpigmentation was achieved. No significant adverse effects, including post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or scarring, were noted. No recurrence was observed at the 2-year follow-up. The favorable outcome may be attributed to the complementary mechanisms of the two laser modalities, with the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser targeting melanin and the fractional CO2 laser promoting epidermal renewal and dermal remodeling. Combination therapy using Q-switched Nd:YAG and fractional CO2 lasers may provide an effective and safe treatment option for Becker’s nevus.
