Is there any gender difference in coronary angiography of chest pain in women? From the Korean women's chest pain registry (KOROSE)

초록

Backgrounds: Coronary artery disease is the major cause of death in both woman and men. But little is known about the difference coronary artery disease between women and men. Methods: Of 1279 patients from chest pain in Korean women’s registry (which was a multicenter registry of Korean women who visited in clinic for chest pain, 1006 patients (59.9±11.5 years) who underwent coronary angiography were included. Results: Women group (876 patients, 60.1±11.3 years old) is older than men and also showed higher total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol values, lower triglyceride values and lower statin use (Table1). Coronary angiography shows the more nonocclusive disease (62.1% vs. 40.0%, P<0.0001) in women compared with men, and the distribution of lesions were not different significantly (P=NS) between men and women (within diseased coronary vessel, Table2). Conclusions: In this small study, coronary angiography in women with chest pain showed more likely nonocclusive disease but the distribution of coronary lesions were not different significantly compared with men. But because of small number and selection bias of the study, large number study will be needed.
