초록

Imaging biomarkers are anatomical, physiological, and biochemical indicators that are derived from medical images, representing objective and quantifiable imaging parameters. They are used for disease diagnosis, assessment of severity, evaluation of treatment response, and prediction of prognosis. In MRI, signal intensity varies depending on the vendor and acquisition parameters. Therefore, radiologists have traditionally relied on qualitative assessment of images. However, with the growing emphasis on personalized medicine, objective and quantitative evaluation in MRI has become increasingly important. In this review, MRI-based imaging biomarkers are categorized into three groups: 1) biomarkers extracted from conventional MRI (e.g., radiomics), 2) biomarkers derived from mapping-based quantitative MRI techniques (e.g., T2 mapping), and 3) biomarkers obtained using more advanced next-generation MRI techniques (e.g., synthetic MRI). We aim to summarize the key concepts of these techniques, and discuss their clinical applications and current limitations.
