Measurement of fetal urine production rate by 3D ultrasound in ferm fetuses with olighohydramnios

초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to evaluate that fetal urine production rate (FUPR) can be used as a diagnostic test to indentify fetal growth restriction (FGR) among fetus with oligohydramnios. Methods This study included pregnant women at term divided into three groups according to presence or absence of oligohydramnios (AFI < 5th percentile for gestation) or FGR: Group 1 (n = 20) included normal amniotic fluid cases with normal fetal growth; Group 2 (n = 14) included oligohydramnios cases without FGR; Group 3 (n = 10) included oligohydramnios cases with FGR. FUPR was obtained by bladder volume measurements using the rotational method of Virtual Organ Computer-aided AnaLysis (VOCAL) with 3-D ultrasound by following formulas. FUPR= (Second bladder volume—first bladder volume) × 60/time interval in minutes. Results The amniotic fluid index was decreased significantly in oligohydramnios Groups (Groups 2 and 3) compared with Group 1. There was no difference in FUPR between Group 1 and oligohydramnios groups. However, FUPR was decreased in Group 3 compared with Groups 1 and 2. Otherwise, there was no difference in FUPR between Group 1 and Group 2. Conclusions FUPR was significantly decreased in oligohydramnios with FGR, but not in those without FGR. Decreased amniotic fluid with FGR may be caused by decreased FUPR, while in absence of FGR the cause may be other regulatory mechanisms rather than decreased FUPR.
