급격한 코로나19 범유행에 따른 해외입국자의 검역 강화 결과 분석 : '23.1.2.~2.28. 중국발 입국자를 중심으로

-Objectives:This study aimed to characterize the epidemiological features of laboratory- confirmed COVID-19 cases among inbound travelers from China to South Korea during January-February 2023. The findings are intended to provide evidence-based guidance for prioritizing high-risk groups in future quarantine protocols in response to emerging respiratory infectious diseases. -Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from 88,622 travelers from China who underwent COVID-19 testing upon entry into South Korea, among whom 2,613 tested positive. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize demographic and epidemiological data. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to examine the association between SARS-CoV-2 positivity and variables such as visa type, demographic characteristics, and intended region of stay. -Results:Visa status was significantly associated with COVID-19 positivity. Compared to Korean nationals, short-term foreign visitors had a higher likelihood of testing positive (adjusted OR=1.53, 95% CI: 1.39–1.69), while long-term foreign residents had a significantly lower likelihood (adjusted OR=0.46, 95% CI: 0.41–0.51). These results remained statistically significant after controlling for potential confounders. -Conclusion:The lower positivity rate among long-term foreign residents suggests the effectiveness of targeted surveillance and control measures applied to this group. These findings highlight the importance of risk-based, group-specific quarantine strategies for controlling the entry and spread of infectious diseases via international travel.
