Ethacrynic Acid와 Timolol의 병행 사용이 안압과 방수유출율에 미치는 영향

초록

The effect of ethacrynic acid in combination with timolol on intraocular pressure (IOP) and aqueous outflow facility was studied. Forty New Zealand white rabbits were randomly assigned into 4 groups such as control, ethacrynic acid(E), timolol (T) and ethacrynic acid and timolol (E+T) groups. Before the experiment, 0.5% timolol was instilled in T and E+T groups, and normal saline in the control and E groups. One hour after topical instillation, 10 μl of 3 mM ethacrynic acid was intracamerally injected in E and E+T groups, and balanced salt solution in the control and T groups. Twelve hours after intracameral injection, timolol was instilled in T and E+ T groups and normal saline in the control and E groups. The IOP and aqueous outflow facility (C value) were measured by pneumotonometer (Bio-Rad, USA) at the very begining of the experiment, and 6 and 24 hours after injection. The cornea and anterior chamber were examined with slit lamp just before measurement of IOP. Mean IOP of E, T and E+T groups was lower than that of the control at 6 and 24 hours after injectioa Mean IOP of E+T group was lowest and statistically significantly different from that of control group (p<0.05). Mean IOP of E group was low as much as T group. Aqueous outflow facility was increasd in E and E+T groups at 6 and 24 hours after injection (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between these two groups (p>0.05). Mean aqueous outflow facility of T group was not siginificantly different from that of control group(p>0.05). Slit lamp examitiation revealed no complications in the cornea and anterior chamber. In conclusion, the intracamerally injected ethacrynic acid increased aqueous outflow facility in the rabbit eye. It lowered IOP as much as the topical use of timolol Ethacrynic acid in combination with timolol showed an additional effect on lowering IOP. However, the effect on aqueous outflow facility was neither additional nor inhibitional.
