초록
With the growing awareness of patient safety and rights, Shared Decision-Making (SDM) has emerged as a critical concept in achieving patient-centered care and appropriate medical practices in the healthcare field. Globally, efforts to promote the implementation of SDM have been actively pursued, and in Korea, awareness of its necessity is also increasing. Primary care, in particular, offers a suitable environment for implementing SDM by providing routine health management and preventive care while building a trusting relationship with patients. However, research, application, and policy support for SDM in actual clinical practice remain limited. This study aims to propose practical strategies for successfully establishing SDM in Korean clinical settings, focusing on the roles and competencies of family medicine specialists in primary care. Family medicine specialists can play a significant role in areas such as health screening, disease prevention and early detection, and rehabilitation within primary care. They also contribute to the spread of SDM by fostering sustained relationships with patients and their families. Accordingly, this study suggests the development of clinical standard models and decision-making support tools, the establishment of support systems for maintaining long-term relationships, and policy support for reducing medical costs and promoting preventive health management. Through these proposals, it is expected that patient-centered care will be strengthened across primary care in Korea, ultimately enhancing the quality of public health.
