초록

Dance-Dance Revolution (DDR) is a game machine that was introduced in Korea at 1998, and that is one of the most popular and demanding much vigorous activity for playing game. The method of game is to push the pad by foot as following the signal sign of the monitor with rhythm beat. The purpose is to evaluate any relationship between injury and patient's body weight and also to report 3 cases of injury that was related to DDR. We evaluated 124 people who enjoyed DDR playing in terms of onset of symptom, duration of playing DDR, frequency, body weight, height, body mass index (B.M.I) and so on, and three patients visited to our hospital after playing DDR. We evaluated out-patient with physical examination and simple X-ray and one patient with knee MRI additionally and arthroscopic examination. We checked the list of height, body weight, duration for playing DDR and BMI (weight/height 2, BMI: 25~29.9: overweight, BMI >30: obesity). This study group consists of 124 peoples. 10 peoples have experienced pain or discomfortness on their low extremity after playing DDR. Average age is 19.3 years. 5 peoples have experienced knee pain, 3 peoples have ankle pain, 2 peoples have foot pain after playing DDR. And 6 peoples weighted over among 10 people. There is no difference between male and female. DDR game should have the warning sign, which DDR player might have any injuries caused by DDR in playing the game. Additionally, over-weighted player may be more vulnerable to the injury during playing DDR.
