Subjects and Methods Frequently spoken 100 words in Korean adult and children were weighted according to the frequency of usage and analyzed using an acoustic analysis program that has the MATLAB function. Results Spoken words in children tend to have a greater proportion of lower frequency sounds compared with those of adults. In children, the most frequently used first consonant is /ㅇ/ and the most frequently used vowels are /ㅏ/, /ㅓ/. Spoken words in children have less final consonant than spoken words in adult. Conclusions Spoken words in children have different frequency pattern and acoustic characteristics comparing to spoken words in adult.
