As the proportion of elderly population increases, the number of patients with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) is also rising. From the perspective of pathophysiology and low pre-morbid physical, cognitive, and ADL performances, TBI can cause a difference in its rehabilitation response between the elderly and younger patients. Although the final functional outcome scores are usually lower in elderly patients than in young patients with TBI, elderly patients also have good potential to recover after rehabilitation. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate and to compare the extent of functional gain while investigating pre-morbid conditions and adjusting functional decline with aging. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.
