초록

Marc et al. reported that diazepam decreased plasma corticosterone level, but Dasgupta et al. suggested that chlordiazepoxide suppressed the adrenal response to ACTH. In this paper, the influence of diazepam on the changes of blood sugar and plasma corticosterone levels induced by ACTH, minimal electroshock (M.E.S.) and picrotoxin in mice was investigated. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The blood sugar and plasma corticosterone levels were increased by diazepam, ACTH, M.E.S., and picrotoxin, respectively. 2. The hyperglycemic effects of ACTH, M.E.S., and picrotoxin were potentiated by the diazepam-pretreatment. 3. The increasing effect of ACTH on the plasma corticosterone level was inhibited by the diazepam-pretretment. 4. By the diazepam-pretreatment, the increase of plasma corticosterone level appeared 30 minutes after M.E.S. or picrotoxin injection was slightly potentiated, but the increase of plasma corticosterone level appeared 190 minutes after picrotoxin injection was inhibited.
