Abstract
This study was divised to observe the anticancer activity of lacquer sap extracts (LSE) on the sarcoma 180 cells and the effects of LSE on the changes of some enzymes activities and a few body components of Swiss mice inoculated sarcoma 180 cells. Four hundred Swiss mice(male; 300 heads and female; 100) from a pure strain, weighing 25g to 28g, were used for the experiments and they were divided into two parts, the biochemical study and the anticancer study part. Two hundred of the male were used for the biochemical study and they were again divided into fourgroups, the control group, the group injected the LSE, the group inoculated sarcoma 180 cells and the group injected the LSE after inoculation of sarcoma 180 cells. Ten animals of the each group were sacrificed on the 3, 9, 12 and 15-day after inoculation(or treatment) of sarcoma 180 cells(or LSE) during the experimental term of 15 days. The activities of glutamic pyruvic transaminase(GPT) and alkaline phosphatase, and the contents of cholesterol and calcium in the both serum and liver, were determined quantitatively once every three days for 15 days. While, for the determination of the anticancer activity of the LSE, two hundred animals (male: 100, famale; 100 heads) were divided into four groups, control of male, control of female, test group of male and test group of female. The control groups were inoculated only sarcoma 180 cells and the test groups were injected the LSE after inoculation of the sarcoma 180 cells. Ten animals from the each group were sacrificed on the coresponding term and sarcoma 180 cell numbers in the ascite of Swiss mice were determined by the coulter counter. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Although the serum calcium level was decreased by the injection of the LSE, the alkaline phospha tase activity in the serum was increased, and in the liver, the both activities of GPT and alkaline phosphatase and the cholesterol level were increased by the 3rd injection of the LSE. 2. The alkaline phosphatase activity and the calcium level in the serum were decreased by the inoculation of sarcoma 180 cells, but those of GPT and alkaline phosphatase in the liver were decreased. 3. When the Swiss mice was injected the LSE after inoculation of sarcoma 180 cells, the activity of alkaline phosphatase and calcium level in the serum and the liver were increased. 4. The growth rate of the sarcoma 180 cells in the Swiss mice was inhibited by the injection of the LSE, and it's inhibitory effect in female was more greater than that in the male. From the above results, it found that the Lacquer Sap extract had the inhibitory effect against the growth rate of sarcoma 180 cells in the Swiss mice and that the extract inflenced to the chande of alkaline phosphatase activity in the serum and the liver and that of the GPT activity in the liver. And the change of the growth rate of sarcoma 180cells in the Swiss mice seems to be caused by some biologic metabolism of it's host.
